My intention, as always is to deliver useful tools for professionals to help individuals who use tobacco reduce their use. The groovy additional perk is that I always get blessed beyond the words I have to convey!!! This month was no exception!!!
My new friend Marj delivered blessings and gave me permission to share these blessings with all of us here!
Marj shared her Father-In-Law Ray with us. “He was like a father to me” she shared as her eyes welled up in tears. Marj shared stories about what made him such a blessing to her and her daughter. Marj’s daughter who is now an attorney attributes her success to Ray! She would argue for a cause and he would represent the opposition! They would go round and round! “He was so influential to her as an individual as well as professional” shared Marj.
“So you can imagine this strong woman running into my arms” enveloped by sorrow at the news that Ray was gone before he was even 60 years of age Marj shared sadly.
She explained Ray, a person who used tobacco in the past gave it up however he was unable to escape the harm nicotine had caused to his lungs. He went in for one surgery. They had to go in a second time and finally a third time. It was on that third time that he did not make it back. He died on the operating table shared Marj.
I thanked Marj profusely and politely asked her if I might share Ray with us. She generously agreed as noted by her heartfelt smile. Ray was and continues to be a blessing! Everyone he came into contact with, Marj, her daughter and now we are all different because of him. Thank you Ray, for being you and to Marj for sharing Ray with us!
Please, let’s talk to every one of our clients about their tobacco use. They may say no the first, second or third time and if they do we can politely ask for permission to keep asking.
If you have a story to share we would love to hear from you here or consider joining us for next month’s presentation!!! We will be presenting at a brand new location!!!
